Layla Marie McElroy, 23, is charged with three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of promoting prostitution, according to court documents.
Police spoke with McElroy and a man inside the motel room, and the man told police he knew very little about McElroy and met her through an ad on Craigslist. Police found that McElroy had posted the ad on Craigslist, then met with the man after he texted her in response.
Police asked McElroy if anything was in the room that shouldn't be, and she informed them of used needles in the desk drawer. When she opened the drawer for police, they found 22 used syringes, two burnt spoons, and a pink shoelace tie-off.
Also taken into custody this weekend was Derek Michael Haines, 31, after police were dispatched to a possible "disabled motorist" just after midnight Monday at the Shell gas station in Antrim Township. Haines is charged with possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and giving false identification to police. When troopers arrived, they found Haines, from Hagerstown, Maryland, and asked for identification.
The identification provided listed the name "Garry Lee Lockard Jr. While speaking with Haines, troopers could see a clear plastic baggie of suspected amphetamine on the ground outside the driver's side door where Haines had just been sitting. After searching the vehicle, police found a suspected Xanax pill on the driver's seat where Haines had been sitting.
A field test was conducted on the white powder in the baggie and it tested positive for amphetamines. Facebook Twitter .
